May 2025 - Sheperd of The Compassionate Economy
From Success to Significance
My name is MysterE Smith, and like many, I once chased what the world calls success. I reached for it—on the big stage, top of the charts, awards in hand. But behind the applause, my personal life was calling me elsewhere. That pivotal moment, backstage at a Fortune 500 event, made me ask: Is this really what is wanted for my life?
I went home, fired my coach and stepped away from the career path to begin writing my first book. The next day was 9/11. Everything changed.
The first half of the book was easy: how to rise by using vision. The second half was the real work: how to return to your heart. That became my true journey—one that’s spanned decades, losses, miracles, and a complete redefinition of value.
The Gift of Receiving
Along the way, people gave to me—freely mostly, no strings attached. Others with hidden agendas. It was difficult at first to receive. We’re taught to keep score, to owe. But over time, I saw something deeper: giving and receiving are not opposites. They're the same energy, flowing in trust.
I’ve been given cars, shelter, even land. Every gift seeded something better. And every time I gave—time, money, food, ideas—it came back around, often in ways I never expected.
The Riverhouse & The Law of One
In 2009, I received a vision in a lucid dream: a spiritual ecosystem where our needs would be met and our heart’s opened when we aligned with our hearts. That vision became the Riverhouse MysterE School—a land-based community experiment in unconditional trust, built on $8 in quarters and a community of believers. We practiced non-scorekeeping, co-creation, and abundance beyond money. We meditated, participated in yoga classes and had community meals. It worked. It changed us. It was never about how much—it was about learning to live in the certainty of truth. When the River House was complete, I re-entered the world homeless and broke, but not broken, and with 11 books. Life has been blooming ever since.
The Compassionate Economy
After losing ‘everything’—three times—I see now: trust isn’t a feeling. It’s a frequency. And when we tune into it, the world around us responds. No matter how bad things appear to be, we each have the potential to awaken to the frequency of trust and experience the miraculous - as well as trust everything that happens to us as a divine lesson.
There is nothing to fear about loss, for it isn’t real and it’s a real part of the journey of life. It’s a blessing to be able to let go, and create anew. In these times of evolutionary change, this is a valuable asset to share with our communities.
I feel inspired then, to offer in the wake of my journey, The Compassionate Economy. It’s a living invitation to redefine value based on generosity, artistry, and love—not extraction, fear, or status. We can shift our definition of success, to be simply: compassion.
Through GAMA (Generous Americans Moving Ahead), MAMA (Make Altruism Matter Again), and LUMA (Love Unites Mission Artistry), we’re building a movement where everyone belongs and everyone matters.
This isn’t a business. It’s a heart call. And you’re invited.
Let’s build something beautiful. Together.
